One the funniest actors ever was born on this day in 1925. Peter Sellers was a master impressionist developing a variety of wild and outrageous characters.

Sellers best known character was the bumbling Inspector Clouseau in the 1963 movie "The Pink Panther." There were four sequels to the movie.

In 1964 Sellers starred in the highly successful movie "Dr. Strangelove," which earned him his first Oscar nomination.

He appeared in over 60 films and on numerous television shows.

Sellers died of a heart attack on July 24, 1980 at the age of 54.
