The Beans and Cornbread luncheon  an annual affair that's happened in Lubbock, Texas  for the last 21 years and little did we realize how good for our bodies the food offering is.  The luncheon is from 11 a.m. til 1:30 p.m. March 4 at the Civic Center banquet hall.  Tickets are only $10 at the door.

As far as the nutrition facts, even though beans contain approximately the same amount of calories as meat,  one cup of beans gives you 12 grams of fiber and are high in water content. Meat has no fiber.  So, beans make you feel fuller.  Beans are high in antioxidants while meat isn't.  So, you might want to skip the burger, chicken, or steak Friday and do something that'll not only taste good but be good for you.  Tickets are only $10 at the door for beans, cornbread, tea and dessert, with a separate side of  a Klemke's sausage link available.   Don't forget to tip your waiter.....ahem....with 99.5 the Bear's Rick and Jane  being two  of those waiters vying for the traveling "Golden Apron" trophy.   The event, by the way, will benefit Hospice of Lubbock.
