When Eddie Murphy pulled out of hosting the Oscars this year, the powers-that-be brought in Mr. Reliable--Billy Crystal. And being a Crystal fan, I enjoyed the show Sunday night.

Considering all the starving people all over the world, the whole event is a silly annual awards show to begin with. But Crystal set the mood by saying with the economy suffering as it was what better thing that to see a bunch of millionaires giving golden statues to themselves! Now, that's comedy. And his opening filmed sequence was of course, expected, and did make me laugh.

Crystal planted himself into scenes mimicking the Best Picture nominees with cameos by George Clooney and Justin Bieber. Not one film was missed. He spoofed "The Artist"(last night's big winner), "The Descendants", "Moneyball", "Midnight in Paris", Hugo", "The Adventures of TinTin", "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close", "the Help", "Tree of Life" and "War Horse".

Jokes, other funny bits followed but the night was there for awards. "The Artist" took home five, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor! Meryl Streep won Best Actress for her work in "The Iron Lady". Check out Crystal's funny opening and see if you can spot all of these.
