I really don't think the weekend can get any more crowded. We've got the Robert Earl Keen concert at the Rattlesnake Roundup Friday night at the Lonestar Amphitheater on East 19th. Friday just happens to be the first day the public can enjoy all the art, music and activities at the 34th annual Lubbock Arts Festival at the Civic Center. Those two events alone are enough to fill your weekend.

But there's more. The annual Buffalo Wings Cookoff, with $10,000 in prize money, is going on at Buffalo Springs Lake Saturday and Sunday. The Ragin Cajun, featuring all the seafood you can eat with ticket proceeds going to Special Olympics is 4-10 p.m. Saturday at the Coliseum.

More music going on all weekend at the Cactus Theatre in the Depot. It's 50s, 60s and 70s night on Friday' and the famous Nitty Gritty Dirt Band performs Saturday there; while the gospel music from Tim Johnson entertains on Sunday night at that venue. Finally, at Abuelo's restaurant at 82nd and Quaker Friday night Dangerous Dan and Owen Franklin share their voices.

You have a wonderful selection. Hope you can make most of these. One time, legendary West Texas fiddler Cecil Caldwell told me, "Jane, the more there is to do, the more people try to do." I tend to agree because I'm headed to at least three of these events! Happy weekend! Here's the great Robert Earl Keen who most likely will be doing this song which happens to be mine and everyone else's favorite Keen tune.
