One of the world's best known comedians and actors is Steve Martin. But this man has many sides. He's one of the original "Wild and Crazy Guys" from television's Saturday Night Live. And we've even seen him in serious drama, even writing and directing for the stage. And now, within the past few years we've been introduced to another side of Steve. It's the blue-grass side.

Last night at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards, Martin was named Entertainer of the Year. He thanked all the other nominees "for losing". Those nominated along with Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers were: Dailey and Vincent, The Grascals, The Box Cars, and The Gibson Brothers. Martin says he and his band worked very hard and he especially worked hard because he's had to play catch-up as a banjo performer. By the way, he's been playing banjo for 50 years, but performing with a band for only about two years. Last night's award, he tells the AP, is "sort of like winning two Oscars". Here's a silly animation showcasing the talents of the group.
