Dan Law field, the home of the Texas Tech Baseball team, was far behind other ballparks in the Big 12. All that will change come Friday, February 17th when fans come out to Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

That is opening day for the 2012 season and the renovation of Dan Law is expected to completed and the Red Raiders can show off their new digs. Price of the renovation: $5 million.

New chair back seats have been added behind home plate. There are new luxury suites.

One of the great things is the overhang, that extends from dugout to dugout, will give fans much needed shade on those sunny hot days.

What is really nice is the new backstop. It's like what is at a major league park. No more poles blocking your view.

I do the p.a. announcing for Tech baseball and I'll have a new place to sit at  a new location. Instead of behind the plate, I'll be one the first base side, looking out to left field.

I think everyone is going to like it. Again, Tech opens it's season Friday, February 17th against Missouri State.
