For the 52nd year the Knights of Columbus will hold their annual "Texas Tech Kickoff Night" this Saturday night. It started out in 1960 as a way for the Lubbock community kickoff the upcoming football season.

I've attended this many times and it's a great way to get into football mode. The "Goin Band from Raiderland" is there, the cheerleaders and Pom squads are there as well. With all that going on and the coaches showing up as well, you can't help but feel that football season has begun.

There are always great guests. Head coach Tommy Tuberville will talk about the upcoming season.

This years special guest is former Dallas Cowboy and Oklahoma Sooner great Tony Casillas.

This year's honored guest will be former Texas Tech All-America Montae Reagor.

Proceeds from the event are used to fund the General Texas Tech Athlectic Fund. Over the past 20 years, the event has raised more that $240,000.

It will be held at the Knight's of Columbus hall located 1/2 mile east of Slide Road and FM 1585. Tickets are $30.
