On this "Two for Tuesday", one singer was already an established star and the other was just getting started when they recorded this song.

David Houston was at one time an insurance underwriter. It wasn't until producer, Billy Sherrill brought on to Epic Records and Houston scored his first major hit with, "Almost Persuaded". It won a couple of Grammy awards in 1966. He garnered 28 hit records through the 60's and 70's that included a duet with Barbara Mandrell.

Mandrell at the time, who had been in the music business since the age of five, had just signed with Columbia Records. In 1969 she had just released a cover version of the Otis Redding hit,"I've Been Loving You Too Long."

The next year she started working with Houston and together they had several hit songs. One was a Top Ten hit, "After Closing Time."

Mandrell went on to become one of the biggest female country stars from the 70's and 80's.

Houston would go on to record many more hits into the mid 70's. David Houston died in 1993.
